Trixie's Story

When our youngest daughter Beatrix (Trixie) was just 11 weeks old, Nat knew something wasn't right. Despite being reassured by our Dr, that her symptoms were probably nothing serious, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Trusting her instincts, she took Trixie to the emergency department. Doctors soon delivered news that no parent wants to hear. Our baby had an extremely aggressive form of leukemia called AML and was given only a 10% chance of survival.

What followed were some of the hardest months of our lives. Trixie underwent intensive chemotherapy while Nat lived beside her in the hospital. There were infections, complications, and moments where we almost lost her. At the same time, we were caring for our two older daughters, and for months our family was split between home and hospital as we tried to navigate a situation that had turned our world upside down.

Although Trixie came home after three months, it was another eighteen months of treatment and hospital visits before she was finally declared cancer-free. We were incredibly blessed that she responded so well to treatment, and today she is a healthy, thriving young girl who continues to remind us what a miracle she is.

That journey changed us forever. It opened our eyes to the reality many families face when a child is diagnosed with cancer and inspired us to create the Trixie Tribe.

Our mission is to provide practical support, resources, encouragement, and moments of joy to families walking a similar path. We know how difficult that journey can be, and our hope is to make it just a little easier for those facing it today.
